Sleazy Listening.

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, animals, vegetables and indeed minerals, it's time to celebrate Italian soundtrack and library music from the past. The 1960s & 1970s were a prolific time in Italian film and film score culture. This year I'll be babbling on and on about this, because alot of it is of very high quality.

John Barry 1933 - 2011

Sad news that John Barry died recently. Eerily, I was watching my favourite Bond film the very night he left us. On Her Majesty's Secret Service is the greatest of all Bonds, and has my joint favourite Bond soundtrack (the other one being the lush You Only Live Twice). Barry certainly lived the life during the swinging sixties (his second wife was Jane Birkin), as his work with the Bond themes brought him fame and fortune. Aside from the afore-mentioned Bond soundtracks, my other favourites are the theme from Vendetta, The Ipcress File, Midnight Cowboy and the amazing theme to The Persuaders. Barry leaves us an incredible body of work, ensuring his memory will always live on through his music. Respec'.
