These sound clips are up to 100MB in size, so it may take several seconds or even minutes for your browser to start playing the audio file. Certainly, this depends on the speed of your internet connection, or the type of browser you use, perhap even which audio player/plug-in you use... What a ruddy minefield!
Lazy artwork, but a great mix of funky soul.
Sandwiched somewhere between blues and deep funk, is soul music, also labelled rhythm & blues. A bit more melancholy, this compilation... More downbeat than the others, which is partly due to the amount of Soul tracks. Also, I think the long, cold European winter of 2009/10 had an effect on the outcome of this. The final track is by the incredibly talented Billie Holiday, who had to wear long gloves during performances to hide the needle marks from her addiction to heroin. Oh deary me.
