Delirio Caldo aka Delirium (Renato Polselli, 1972)
"They're using love as a game and sex as a sport"
This f*cking film is ALL OVER THE SHOP! Writer/director Polselli made over 20 films in his career... you'd never guess as you watch this hilarious, amateurish sleaze-fest. Indeed, 1972 was a good year for exploitation. ABOVE: A Ladies bottom! BELOW: Pull the string! PULL THE STRING!
Clearly influenced by, and wanting desperately to be Suspiria, Delirium's complete inept creative capacity is replace by random, uncalled-for moments of pornography. The story is this: Dr Herbert Lyutak (Mickey Hargitay, a truly nice guy who just cannot act) is an impotent murderer (the most deadly kind!). His saucy sex-pot wife (luscious Italian legend Rita Calderoni) is a virgin (!!!) And they have a randy maid. Erm... chaos ensues.
Blue Underground's DVD release has both the uncut international version, and the equally bizarre, sleaze-free American version, which has added scenes not included in the longer cut. Bad as it is, Delirium is highly enjoyable stuff. Awful. I mean, Excellent! No, wait! What!?
