Ahhh 1980! Sweeping, curly lady-hair! DISCO! Hairy fannies! Men… with perms? And of, course cannibalism! Yayyy!
Story: John Saxon leads a platoon in 'NARM®, some of whom gets infected with a strange virus that turns them into psychotic, bloodthirsty cannibals! Post NARM®, our heroes are back in that there America and almost cured! But wait! Oh no!! The three 'NARM® vets suddenly get their taste for flesh back and mayhap ensues! Well... Not really. There's only the three of them being chased by the cops in cheapo, shitty locations. There are cannibals, but certainly no apocalypse to speak of, it's all done very, VERY cheaply.
Basically, this is a like an episode of the A-Team™, but with added blood, guts, murder, nudity and people actually dying (which the A-team™ never ever showed. No sir!)
Shoddy stuff. Cannibal apocalypse was made on the back of the strangely popular cannibal sub-genre of films being shat out of Italy during the 1970s. It’s a lousy, lousy, LOUSY production. A good example of proper Italian exploitation. The dubbing is dreadful, there’s the J&B whiskey in every other shot, and the soundtrack is MASSIVELY INAPPROPRIATE! It’s almost mesmerically awful! Yet somehow… somehow it’s still manages to entertain. Maybe it's John Saxon... Hmm. He’s always value for money, yes, a consummate professional.
Conclusion: Slightly above average bollocks.
