A Three-disc extravaganza celebrating Disco, Funk & Rare Groove
So anyway, this disco faze wasn't just about the tacky tracks you'd find in any gay club, but much more about the funky, often overlooked rare groove tracks. Disco, after all, was just the late 1960s & 1970s funk underground getting above ground. Cue lots of cocaine meltdowns and disgraceful cash-ins, some of which from talented-yet-overlooked funk/soul performers who just wanted a hit record. Read: Hard Cash.
Disco was also the starting point of the 7 inch single going 12 inch. Some of those disco remixes were well over 6/7 minutes, and the 12 was created to cope with the loooong grooves for DJs to play at clubs. Ahhh yes, Djs, exclusive clubs, tight security on the doors, it's all so familiar know, isn't it? Disco is responsible for all of these things. Anyway, no time to talk...
