Climate Of Hunter

A Tribute to Dr Hunter Stockton Thompson
b. July 18 1937 d. February 20 2005

For years I've been a fan of the good Doctor's rantings and ravings, and when he killed himself with a bullet back in February 2005, the world lost not just an extremely talented writer, but also an adherent iconoclast. I felt that I had to produce a compilation of music to remember him by. This compilation features spoken words from various radio/ film and T.V archives, as well as suitable music for what Hunter described as "a nation of permanent cripples". Right. I threw everything into this one: Rock, roll, psych, pop, soul, funk, cheese and mentalist madness music, all lovingly crafted with funny tidbits from Hunter's scribblings.

Although work began in 2006, this compilation actually took 18 months to complete, and it is one of my favourite musical compilations. And it is my most personal. Just recently (March 2019) I've done a full remaster of all the tracks. It was mixed in uncompressed AIFF audio, then, once completed, compressed to HQ mp3.

Notes about the 2019 remaster: I had no idea the version of time has come today was a weird chopped-up edited version of the original 11 minute LP version. The longer version actually fits the spirit of Climate of Hunter very nicely, and including the longer edit does improve the compilation as a whole, it especially compliments the general madness of Rocket ship, so I'm happy to make this change for the 2019 remaster. Let's face it, it's thumping.

Below is the babbling shite that I should really call sleeve notes. Also somewhere down below is a track list.

These sound clips are up to 100MB in size, so it may take several seconds for your browser to start playing the audio file. Some browsers will not play automatically, in which case please hit the 'play' button below. Happy listening!
