More French lovliness. Pictures of Brigitte Bardot everywhere this time. Smashing. Or rather, formidable.
I wanted to include more yé yé in this one, and also included more Gainsbourg... their really is no escaping the man, he was a genius who hit his creative (and sexual) peak during the 1960s.
A few of the tracks on this volume are lifted from the now legendary 1968 'Brigitte Bardot show' TV special.
And what a special it is! Bardot (and Gainsbourg) at the peak of their powers. The opening track 'Marseillaise Generique' by Francis Lai is the opener for the Bardot special, which is available on DVD. Beg, borrow, steal it, as it's a fantastic 1960s artifact. Oh, and anyone familiar with the TV programme Eurotrash will notice that Saint Tropez is the track they used for the theme tune. This compilation is even stronger than the first one. Hardy's Traeume is one the greatest tracks of them all.
