santa claws
Christmas really can be a SLASHING time for all the family. Fun, Frolics & Murrrderrrrrr.

So, are you tired of the usual crap on TV over Christmas? Then let me throw a few alternative festive treats your way. Just in time for Christmas, horror fans, is Arrow's UK DVD re-issue of the, erm, timeless classic 'Silent Night, Deadly Night', a Santa-based slasher pic. But, even better than that is Black Christmas! Check out the original 1974 festive slasher shocker... It's a king hell classic, and John Saxon's in it!

BELOW: Those of you who read the motor car thrill-ride a couple of months back, will be chuffed and delighted that Freebie & The Bean has been added to the rather spurious archives here at WWG. And joy of joys! It has a super-deluxe page to celebrate what a lost classic that film really is. Except it's not lost anymore. Which is nice. Sheer mayhap!

Right. And a little slice of Euro-carnage called Dobermann has been added. Sweet. Meanwhile... it's been a hell of a time for low-brow cult 'classics' getting released. Certainly not the usual fare... so let us hold hands whilst we check out some of the odd titles that have entered the WWG archives recently: 'An Angel For Satan, The Long Hair of Death, Night Of The Eagle, Pieces (below), Don't Touch The White Woman! and to top them all, Death Laid a Egg.

Cadaver

Quite. And what has been going on at the British Board Of Film Classification? Don't tell me they've been banning films again? They have? Really? I mean, the nerve! This time it's a Japanese 'splatter' movie entitled Grotesque. Also, one of the greatest films of all time ever made has its own place here on Worldwidegimp.online..

Pun alert! Cor Limey! I only gone done watched The Limey a-bloody-gain! Blu-ray?? Leave off! Do what? Turn it bloody in etc, etc...

Other recent (re)views included the latest Studio Ghibli film Ponyo, which was highly enjoyable! But then I'm a big fan of that Japanese style of hand-drawn animation. And on that subject, I recently found a Rough Guide to Ghibli document from a few years ago, just before the entire back catalogue was officially released. Ch-ch-check it out!

Legendary SFX dude Douglas Trumbull's1983 film Brainstorm has been watched. It's certainly been a while since last I saw it, and it has never looked or sounded as good. And on a similar theme, David Cronenberg's head-busting classic Scanners has just been added. Not for kids!

My how times have changed. The 1976 Gene Wilder vehicle Silver Streak may have introduced the world to his cinematic partnership with the legendary Richard Pryor, but what kind of vibe does it really give off to a modern audience?

My Top 100 films list has also been added. To be viewed only if you give a flying toss, that is.
