Captain's blog: The largest country on Earth is also one of the most corrupt. An incredible expanse of land governed under totalitarian rule with an cast-iron fist. As Spock had already warned me about, the hostility was wide-rife and slightly sickening. One point of note: There is no middle class... Just the VERY rich 1%, and then everybody else. Russians dress as badly as any human form I've ever seen, eking out a miserable existence whilst the rich just get richer and more complacent. Truly a corrupt nation. And you can't even drink the water! There are, however, some highlights. Here are some of those here then. A classic example of pouring all the Oil & Gold money into a space programme that never went far enough... Meanwhile, impoverished and imprisoned, a nation starved...

ABOVE & ALL AROUND US: This is Cosmonauts' Alley which leads to the Cosmonautics museum in the Ostankino area of Moscow. Once in the museum (BELOW) I was encountered by a stream of scowling babushkas (grandmothers in Russian), most of whom did not like me taking pictures, even tough there were signs permitting photography! Typical. I took pictures of what I could, but what amazed me is just how these giant tin cans actually made it up into Space in the first place! Amazing engineering.
