ABOVE: You can see the Cosmonauts' Alley and the towering erection therein. This is the view from the nearby Ostankino TV Tower, and it gives the Cosmonauts' Alley a unique sense of scale. The tower also oversees the TV production studios, which is just across the street. More about that below...

ABOVE: The hoarding above this building (in blue) is for the Pyervihy 1 kanal, which is one of the main TV channels is Russia. This means it is a channel controlled by the state. Hmmm... Such things aside, the entire building is decorated like a TV test card, which - for those who don't know - is a Video card designed to configure your television set. This video card is usually complimented with a test tone and/or audio synch test. One of these test cards was the inspiration for the first worldwidegimp [as it was, .com] cards (ABOVE) which I hand out irregularly. How strange that an entire building is designed like this! I was genuinely impressed! BELOW: The really quite tall really Ostankino TV tower was built in 1967 and stands stiffly at 337 metres. Oooh, lovely views.

ABOVE & RIGHT: Ostankino Palace from the ground level, and a view from high above. BELOW: More views from the TV Tower.
