MIDGE BASTARDS

JUNE 2014: Hverfjall AKA Hverfell is a 2500 year-old tephra cone volcano. It is roughly a 400m trek up to the top, where stunning views of Mývatn and the surrounding area are on show. Once at the top, it took me about 90 minutes to walk around the whole thing, which, on a nice day I really recommend. Being mental, I hiked to Hverfjell from the nearby village of Reykjahlíð where I was staying.

MIDGE BASTARDS

MIDGE BASTARDS! Those kooky flying morons are all over the place, and none more so than the area surrounding Hverfjall... Or is it that they just love my face? Hmmm...

ABOVE: This is the main approach track to MIDGE BASTARDS Hverfjall. If you look on the bigger picture, you'll see a track leading off to the right. THIS is the track that leads to the Lofthellir ICE Cave!
