January 2014. Staying at Ben's farm in Phong Nha was nice. Notice the dirt track 'road' below left. It really is in the middle of nowhere, yet has power and hot & cold running water and cold beer. So what more do you want? As the farm was a few kilometers from Phong Nha itself, I decided it best to hire a bicycle and wander around the area armed with my trusty camera. The views were amazing, and I consider this the best part of the trip. The photos start with the area close to the farm, eventually getting to the town of Phong Nha itself. There you'll see a temple, and the funny sign which greets you by the ticket office, where you can purchase tickets for the boats & the caves.
ABOVE LEFT: A view of the Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park... Still misty! ABOVE RIGHT: On the boat towards the caves. Notice an actual church! Most unusual for an area like this. BELOW: The entrance to the Phong Nha Cave. You float in, see the interior, then double-back slightly before being dropped-off inside the cave. From there you can spend time wandering around... in awe. The boat will pick you up on the other side.
