Temppeliaukio Church in Helsinki was designed by architects Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen.The church itself is actually blasted into bedrock, which is quite unique indeed! It was built in 1968/69, which you can tell because of the décor. The inside is circular and benefits from natural light through the circular glass which surrounds the copper ceiling. What a beautiful place this is! There was a young lady playing the piano whilst I was there, and let me tell you that the acoustics inside this church are amazing! The church is actually renouned for its concerts and has the local nickname of (wait for it) THE CHURCH OF ROCK! Where's Jack Black when you need him?
