Grand Palais
Paris June 2012. This year's exhibition in the Grand Palais featured an installation by Gallic artist Daniel Buren. The Grand Palais (Below left) is a beautiful setting, and Buren's work worked with three key concepts: Colour, light and Space... well, actually in situ - meaning the art is created out of the space it inhabits. Bear in mind the Grand Palais is a huge space to fill, and the installation seemed to get swallowed up in the Palais itself. Perhaps a smaller venue would have been more suitable for Buren's work. Le petit palais perhaps? (Which is below right). Buren himself turned up that day, which is included in the pictures below. Enjoy!

ABOVE RIGHT: Perhaps too conveniently, (cynical? Moi?!) the artist himself walked into my shot. At first I thought, "Hey! That security guy just walked into my shot! Why I oughta..." Then I realised it was Mr Buren himself, doing his Lord of all I survey pose. Looks like he's practised that one a lot. Mr Buren, you bloody love it!
