Macau: Heritage! Sweet heritage! The one thing that Honk Kong actually lacks. Although HK has a habit of being in a state of constant invention and re-invention (a fact that makes Hong Kongers very proud), Macau is a former Portuguese colony, so there's a curious blend of Chinese & Portuguese heritage which gives it a great deal of character. Character is a word that cannot be used to describe the influx of dreadful, tacky casinos, which makes Macau the Vegas of the East. As you'll see in the pictures, I ignored this side of Macau. Not interested. Besides, how can these casinos cost so much money to build, yet look so damn cheap? Instead I took the number 3A bus and started from the Chinese border in the north (BELOW LEFT: The Barrier Gate), and gradually made my way through the streets to Lin Fong Temple (Below). Oh, and it rained. A lot.
ABOVE: The Red Market Exterior/Interior. Nice place, but I got stared at too much, so I left.
All these pictures are of the rather splendid LOU LIM LOK GARDEN. They were just preparing for a Bonsai Tree exhibition, which wasn't open to the public at that time.
