Holy mackerel! The sky is getting dark and the sun is slowly going to sleep. Ginza by night is a nice place to be. The streets are clean, it doesn't smell of shite like certain other districts of Tokyo, and if you require respite, there are some crackin' boozers to lie low in. Mmmmm...

ABOVE: Love Beer? Hell, yes! Built in 1934, The Sapporo Ginza Lion Beer Hall is a large and slightly odd boozer slap-bang in the middle of Ginza. The décor inside is very un-Japanese, and is based on a generic Germanic (well, Bavarian) beer hall. The beer is served LARGE, cold and delicious, especially the Dark beer, which is some of the best beer I've ever tasted (no, really!) The ABOVE LEFT picture is from 2002, and the one ABOVE RIGHT was taken upon my return in 2010. BELOW is a picture of the mural behind the bar, and a scan of a free postcard I got from the cashier desk. What a teriffic place! And BELOW THAT, there's ANOTHER ONE! Tucked in a back alley in Ginza is a smaller, underground Ginza Lion Beer Boozer! Smashing! (Hic...)
